How much is it to hire a kilt?
The cost of hiring a kilt is always going to be cheaper than buying your own but it greatly depends on what options you go for. Generally speaking, a standard full kilt outfit can cost anywhere between £75 and £285. At the lower end of the pricing scale is Our Choice Kilt Hire which is only available through our website. This is a great option for people who aren’t sure which outfit to pick so they let us pick their outfit for them. On the higher end of the scale is our premium, Choose any Tartan Hire, Arran or Lomond tweed kilt outfits. These are our most modern kilt outfit packages and are brilliant options for any event. All of our kilt outfit packages come with all the necessary accessories like socks, sporran, and flashes to complete your highlandwear look. We also offer upgrade options for various highlandwear accessories if you are looking for a little bit of personalisation.
Can I hire a kilt on its own?
If you already have a kilt and just need a jacket to match or a jacket but just need a kilt, we have options for this too. You can hire any of our kilt jackets from £40, all of which will come with a matching waistcoat. Hiring a kilt on its own will also cost £40 and you can choose from our range of 14 hire tartans. You can also choose to add on accessories like a kilt pin, socks and sgian dubh from as little as £2 per accessory. Hiring a kilt or a jacket on its own is a great option not only for people who are missing parts of their highlandwear outfit, it’s also a great option for people who like to switch their style from time to time.
What tartans can I hire?
We have a range of 14 hire tartans to choose from for our standard hire kilt. This includes our five exclusive Mist tartans as well as classic tartans such a Black Watch or Scotland Forever. If you're looking for more variety when it comes to your tartan options then our Choose Any Tartan Kilt Hire is the ideal choice for you. This option allows you to pick from our collection of over 4,000 Clan, District and Universal tartans. The Choose Any Tartan Kilt Hire price starts from £260 but for that price, you get a full outfit including your accessories. We will create a brand new 7-yard kilt in your size. Once you are done with the event, you can choose to return the kilt to us like a normal hire, or for £150, you can choose to keep it. This option is not only a great way of getting a tartan that you really want but it also allows you to almost trial run the kilt before you decide whether you want to own your own. It’s also a very popular option for grooms who are looking to have their groomsmen match their tartan on the big day. Whichever way you look at it, our Choose Any Kilt Hire product is an excellent option when it comes to hiring versatility.
Do I have to collect my hire from your store?
The beauty of hiring from MacGregor and MacDuff is that our service is available to all UK Mainland and Northern Ireland customers. There is also no reason to ever have to visit us in person if you can’t, everything can be done either on our website or through a virtual appointment. We aim to deliver hires at least four days in advance of your event which gives you enough time to try on the outfit to make sure everything fits properly and gives us enough time to send you anything that needs to be replaced. We use DPD for our deliveries which means that you will receive a time slot of when they expect to arrive at your address. DPD will also collect your hire from the same address after you are done with the event, making the entire process as simple and straightforward as possible.
